Thinking of getting a new bathroom in 2023?

Bathroom design has come a long way since the days of basic porcelain fixtures and drab tiles. Nowadays, bathrooms are so much more than just a functional space – they're a place for pampering, relaxation and self-expression. In this post, we'll explore some of the latest trends in bathroom design.

  1. Bold Colours: We're saying goodbye to neutral tones and hello to bold, bright hues. Whether you opt for a statement wall or accent pieces, adding a pop of colour to your bathroom is a great way to inject some personality. Just imagine a deep jewel-toned wall, or a shower tiled with a rainbow of colours. Talk about a mood-booster!

  2. Statement Tiles: Tiles are no longer just a functional necessity in the bathroom. Today, they're a statement piece, with intricate patterns, bold graphics and eye-catching shapes. You can create a stunning focal point with a feature wall, or add some interest to your shower with bold, geometric shapes. The possibilities are endless!

  3. Luxury Showers: Gone are the days of basic showerheads and dull tiles. Today, showers are all about luxury, with features like multiple showerheads and body jets. Some showers even come with built-in sound systems and chromotherapy lighting – talk about spa vibes!

  4. Freestanding Bathtubs: Freestanding bathtubs are making a big splash in bathroom design. They add a touch of elegance and luxury to any space and can be styled to suit your personal taste. Whether you opt for a traditional clawfoot tub or a modern, geometric shape, a freestanding bathtub is a statement piece that will have you feeling like royalty.

  5. Smart Technology: Technology is making its way into the bathroom, with smart toilets, showerheads, and mirrors becoming increasingly popular. You can now control your shower from your phone, have a hands-free flushing toilet, or even see a virtual wardrobe in your mirror. The future is now, people!

So, there you have it, folks! From bold colours to smart technology, bathroom design is definitely on the up and up. Whether you're a fan of luxurious showers or statement tiles, there's something for everyone. Hello! Apologies that we haven’t posted much - we’ve been really busy here at Proactive Plumbing HQ so we thought it was about time we shared some photos of the work we’ve carried out over the past few months (perhaps the last year?!). This is an en suite that we finished last year - what do you think? If you’re intersted in a bathroom upgrade please do get in touch with us (you can email us at stu@proactiveplumbingsolutions.co.uk or call 01242 300173 / 07835107651).

Beautiful bathroom makeover - before and after!

We were asked to makeover a bathroom here in Bishop’s Cleeve at the end of last year. The property was having a full makever and the bathroom was one of the last things to be done. Luckily we were given some before and after photos by the owner so you can see how much difference the beautiful new bathroom has made:

Before - Basin and bath

Before - Basin and bath

After - Beautiful clean lines and fresh colours!

After - Beautiful clean lines and fresh colours!

Before - Bath and tiles

After - Modern bath, shower, tiles and some greenery!

Last year the Proactive Plumbing Solutions family moved in to a new home. We knew it would be a labour of love to get the whole place updated, but we have now finished our first major challenge: the bathroom! We're really happy with the finished product and raring to share some photos with you.

(Hint: you can click on the thumbnails below to view a larger photo.)

We had a bit of a challenge on our hands as the old bathroom was the original from when our house was built in the late 1980s/early 1990s, As was very much the fashion back then it was carpeted and had a creamy-peach bathroom suite. Here's a before photo so that you can see the transformation!

Case study: New bathroom in Bishop's Cleeve

1.jpg

After the break for Christmas we were straight back in to our first bathroom job of 2017!

For this project we were asked to refit a bathroom on a rental property in Bishop's Cleeve. We're very happy with the results as it makes the most of a modest space and looks very clean and fresh.

The whole house was being updated so we had to work closely with other trades in order to turn it around in a short timescale. The team were great and it went very smoothly!

This time we've taken a few close up shots so that you can see the quality of the finish (you can click on the images below to take a closer look). We hope that the tenants enjoy their lovely new bathroom!

Lovely feedback from happy customers

Our focus is always on doing a quality job and keeping our customers happy, so it's great to recieve lovely feedback from our customers (you can take a look at some of it here: http://www.proactiveplumbingsolutions.co.uk/testimonials/). We know what it's like to try and find a service provider who you trust to do a good job and also welcome in to your home. You want to feel like they're going to do a great job, but also take care of your property. It's very important to us that you feel safe and satisfied. Below is a selection of the fantastic feedback we've had from our customers:

"Stu was recommended to us after trying to find a reliable and professional plumber for some time. And we weren’t disappointed! From his first visit, to sending his quotes and on to the final work, he was always on time and got the work done to a very high standard. He always treated our home like his own, with no mess – in fact he hoovered every day! Stu also had to reconfigure our bathroom, dismantling the raised platform for our old bath and removing floor and wall tiles. All the waste materials were always neatly stacked for us to dispose of which made life so much easier.  Stu has given us faith in trades again, We couldn’t recommend him enough!  Thank you Stu!"

"We were very pleased with Stu's work.  He provided good advice, obtained trade prices for the tiles, and was very punctual.  A hard worker, he continued over the bank holiday Monday to get the job finished.  Stu was also a most courteous and unobtrusive worker and went out of his way to avoid disturbing the house occupants.  Scrupulously tidy and multi-skilled, he was diligent in protecting the carpets and other fittings in the house and he was a real pleasure to have around.  We would certainly recommend him for similar jobs, provided we can have him back for our next one!  Ray and Sarah, proud new shower owners."

"Just have to say a belated but huge thank you to Stuart for convincing me that you can find a reliable, honest, talented and genuine plumber who is a joy to deal with. After quoting for a new shower room in our Cheltenham property he spent long hours working extremely hard to produce an incredible end-result at a very competitive price. Am delighted to have met him and will certainly use Proactive Plumbing again without hesitation."
Nic, Cheltenham
"I can thoroughly recommend Stu Woolley at Proactive Plumbing Solutions.  Stu was prompt to reply to my email query, he attended when he said he would, and also did a great repair job there and then for a very reasonable price.  Will definitely use again and have no hesitation in recommending this very pleasant young man."
Anne, Gotherington
"Stu is really good at what he does and I can't speak highly enough of him; Great guy who is really tidy, efficient, reasonable rates and explains everything as he goes along.  The en-suite looks amazing and just so thrilled with it."

"Just thought I would message you to tell you what a fantastic job Stu has done on my bathroom! I am really impressed with his attention to detail. He works incredibly hard."
Christine, Cheltenham

Case Study: New en-suite in Bishop's Cleeve

Recently we were asked to fit a new en-suite for some clients in Bishop's Cleeve. Marion found out about Proactive Plumbing Solutions after posting a request on the Streetlife website (if you haven't discovered it yet, take a look, it's a great online-but-local community that I rave on about quite a bit). It was a great job to work on and I am very happy with the finish. Massive thanks go to Marion for her kind words below, recommendations and great cups of tea!

Case study: New bathroom in Nailsworth

Back in May I was recommended to Rich, from Nailsworth, for a bathroom and cloakroom refit. It was a great opportunity for me to work on another stylish bathroom, so I was very pleased to be offered the job.

As you can see from the photos I was asked to install a shower (with rain shower head) above a bath and fit a basin and WC. These all look amazing with the grey toned tiles.

The whole bathroom had to be redesigned and modified to accomodate a shower above the bath (the bath was originally below a sloped ceiling).

Rich, and his partner, gave me the following fantastic feedback:

"Stu was recommended to us after trying to find a reliable and professional plumber for some time.

Case study: Ray & Sarah's new shower

before.jpg

I was invited along to install a new shower in Ray & Sarah's house. They found me using a website called 'Streetlife', check it out if you like; you can find out loads of things about your local area, share stuff, recommend a tradesperson/place. It's great and really useful.

As the shower would need to be sited on an awkward curved wall, I suggested building a stud wall, square with the bath, and then tiling onto a tile backing board; this meant that they could keep their existing bath in place and we could get a shower screen sat on the bath rim. Here's a before photo to show you what I mean.

It was a great opportunity to use some of my other skills; a bit of carpentry and some tiling (and fitting the shower screen of course). Not things that every plumber can turn their hands to, but I enjoy it, and it's great to be able to do a whole job for a client and not just the plumbing bits.

Once I got the stud wall in place I fitted the shower and did the tiling. I think you'll agree it looks great! Many thanks to Ray & Sarah for letting me work with them and allowing me to share a few photos - you have great taste and your bathroom looks fantastic!

We had some great feedback from Ray & Sarah too:
