Case study: Our new bathroom!

3.jpg

Last year the Proactive Plumbing Solutions family moved in to a new home. We knew it would be a labour of love to get the whole place updated, but we have now finished our first major challenge: the bathroom! We're really happy with the finished product and raring to share some photos with you.

(Hint: you can click on the thumbnails below to view a larger photo.)

We had a bit of a challenge on our hands as the old bathroom was the original from when our house was built in the late 1980s/early 1990s, As was very much the fashion back then it was carpeted and had a creamy-peach bathroom suite. Here's a before photo so that you can see the transformation!

If you'd like to know more about how we could help you design your own ideal bathroom please do get in contact. We're happy to advise and provide you with a free quote. You can call Stu on 07835 107651 / 01242 300173, or email stu@proactiveplumbingsolutions.co.uk.

NEW TRENDS: The bathroom | Tired of the same old same old?

You know you want a new bathroom but you're just not too sure where to start huh? To help get the ball rolling we've approached several bathroom suppliers to get their take on the new trends.

After trawling through endless posts on Pinterest we decided now was the time for action. You spend hours rifling through Pinterest posts, find the perfect suite and then find it was discontinued a year or two ago. We know that feeling! Here at Proactive Plumbing Solutions we want to give you some up-to-date ideas that can easily be sourced.

Those tiles!

It's fair to say that people love tiles at the moment. This bathroom, from the Bathstore, is a pretty darn good example of how different styles of tiles can be used together to create a functional AND stylish space.

We really love the inset shelf for extra storage whilst you are in the shower. You could easily use this idea above your bath or as a place near your basin for your toothbrush.

We've added some more highlights below from the Savoy range at the Bathstore.

Monochrome with a twist!

We're increasingly seeing accent colours combined with monochrome; it keeps the design clean and fresh, yet eye catching. We love that the dark blue is reflected in the large mirrors making an almost watery effect.

Again the floor tiles are a prominent feature here; they are complimented by the Waterfront basin unit that seems to float above them casting its shadow.

Wall tiles are moving away from brick bond trend of recent years but staying resolutely rectangular.

Case study: New shower and ideas!

Last year Proactive Plumbing was asked to install a new shower in a Cheltenham property. Whilst this photo doesn't show it completely decorated we think it looks fantastic. We really like the amazing floor tiles too!

If you need some ideas feel free to browse through our blog posts and case studies. You can always give us a call and we can give you some ideas too. Case study: New bathroom in Bishop's Cleeve

1.jpg

After the break for Christmas we were straight back in to our first bathroom job of 2017!

For this project we were asked to refit a bathroom on a rental property in Bishop's Cleeve. We're very happy with the results as it makes the most of a modest space and looks very clean and fresh.

The whole house was being updated so we had to work closely with other trades in order to turn it around in a short timescale. The team were great and it went very smoothly!

This time we've taken a few close up shots so that you can see the quality of the finish (you can click on the images below to take a closer look). We hope that the tenants enjoy their lovely new bathroom!

Gas Safety Week 2016 is almost here!

We can't believe a year has passed since the last Gas Safety Week. This year it falls on 19th to the 25th of September, yes that's a Tuesday to a Monday.

Last year we wrote a little bit about what Gas Safety Week is all about:

Every year GSR run Gas Safety Week, as a national campaign, to raise awareness of gas safety in the UK. It's co-ordinated by the Gas Safe Register and supported by retailers, manufacturers, consumer bodies and businesses like Proactive Plumbing Solutions. It's all about keeping customers safe and we're taking part to raise awareness of the risks to customers.

Last year we took a closer look at the Gas Safety Map in order to give our customers a bit more of an idea as to why it's important to use an engineer who is gas safe registered. Here's that infographic again.

If you'd like to look at the map for your area, enter your postcode in the search option of the website here: https://www.staygassafe.co.uk/

Like last year we'll be posting more information about Gas Safety Week, but in the meantime don't hesitate to get in contact with us if you have any concerns about your gas appliances:

Lovely feedback from happy customers

Our focus is always on doing a quality job and keeping our customers happy, so it's great to recieve lovely feedback from our customers (you can take a look at some of it here: http://www.proactiveplumbingsolutions.co.uk/testimonials/). We know what it's like to try and find a service provider who you trust to do a good job and also welcome in to your home. You want to feel like they're going to do a great job, but also take care of your property. It's very important to us that you feel safe and satisfied. Below is a selection of the fantastic feedback we've had from our customers:

"Stu was recommended to us after trying to find a reliable and professional plumber for some time. And we weren’t disappointed! From his first visit, to sending his quotes and on to the final work, he was always on time and got the work done to a very high standard. He always treated our home like his own, with no mess – in fact he hoovered every day! Stu also had to reconfigure our bathroom, dismantling the raised platform for our old bath and removing floor and wall tiles. All the waste materials were always neatly stacked for us to dispose of which made life so much easier.  Stu has given us faith in trades again, We couldn’t recommend him enough!  Thank you Stu!"

"We were very pleased with Stu's work.  He provided good advice, obtained trade prices for the tiles, and was very punctual.  A hard worker, he continued over the bank holiday Monday to get the job finished.  Stu was also a most courteous and unobtrusive worker and went out of his way to avoid disturbing the house occupants.  Scrupulously tidy and multi-skilled, he was diligent in protecting the carpets and other fittings in the house and he was a real pleasure to have around.  We would certainly recommend him for similar jobs, provided we can have him back for our next one!  Ray and Sarah, proud new shower owners."

"Just have to say a belated but huge thank you to Stuart for convincing me that you can find a reliable, honest, talented and genuine plumber who is a joy to deal with. After quoting for a new shower room in our Cheltenham property he spent long hours working extremely hard to produce an incredible end-result at a very competitive price. Am delighted to have met him and will certainly use Proactive Plumbing again without hesitation."
Nic, Cheltenham
"I can thoroughly recommend Stu Woolley at Proactive Plumbing Solutions.  Stu was prompt to reply to my email query, he attended when he said he would, and also did a great repair job there and then for a very reasonable price.  Will definitely use again and have no hesitation in recommending this very pleasant young man."
Anne, Gotherington
"Stu is really good at what he does and I can't speak highly enough of him; Great guy who is really tidy, efficient, reasonable rates and explains everything as he goes along.  The en-suite looks amazing and just so thrilled with it."
Marion, Bishop’s Cleeve [Click here to see the job]
"Just thought I would message you to tell you what a fantastic job Stu has done on my bathroom! I am really impressed with his attention to detail. He works incredibly hard."
Christine, Cheltenham

Top tips: Keep your water clean and safe!

It's a good idea to keep the water in your house safe and clean... for obvious reasons!

Here are our top tips on how to do this:

  1. Locate your internal stop tap and check it works. It's a good idea to know where your stop tap is in case of emergencies, and know how to turn it off and on. If you're not sure where it is, try looking under the kitchen sink, or in the downstairs bathroom if you have one. Failing that it could be in your cellar if you have one.
  2. Regularly clean your household taps. Be sure to clean the inside of the spout too. Make sure you follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions. After cleaning the tap make sure you run water through it for a few moments to remove any cleaning product.
  3. Don't leave things like flannels or dishclothes to dry on the tap, this will prevent any contamination.
  4. If you've been away make sure you run your taps for a few minutes before using the water. This will get rid of the water that has been in your taps for that time.

Do you have a budding plumber in your family?

Recently we came across the book "My Mummy is a Plumber". As we've got a couple of keen mini builders in our midst we were intrigued!

Written by brother and sister team Kerrine and Jason Bryan, and published last November, it is the second in a series of books aimed at promoting skills to young children.

The publication comes at a time when there's a noted skills shortage so promoting plumbing as a valued career choice to both young boys and girls is a wonderful idea.

"Kerrine Bryan, the founder of Butterfly Books, has a background in engineering and is a STEM ambassador. She realised that as children we are simply just not made aware of what life truly has to offer in the workplace, regardless of gender." (Jason Bryan, Butterfly Books)

If you're interested in finding out more check out the publisher's website: http://www.butterflybooks.uk/

Many thanks to Kerrine for letting us use the images, they're fantastic too!
